Angie Nelson Named to 25 Young Event Pros to Watch List
We know we always brag about how great the Koncept Events team is. But none of them would be the incredible planners they are without the leadership of KE Partner, Angie Nelson and her incredible logistical mastery! As much as we appreciate her every day, we were so excited that she was honored this summer by Special Events as one of “25 Young Event Pros to Watch in 2018.”
Here is a quick Q&A with the boss lady herself as told to Special Events Magazine!
How did you get into events?
I studied Broadcasting & Film/Marketing in school, but after realizing network television wasn’t all I thought it was, I started working at a Marketing company who partnered with Sonic Drive-In. They ran an employee program that each year named the best Sonic Drive-In location across the US through a series of monthly events and games. I worked on that account, and my first big event was the Franchise Convention in which they announced the top finalists and winner of the program. I then moved to the Non-Profit sector and worked in Alumni Events and Fundraising at a private University in South Florida. From there, I was introduced to the DMC world, and found that was where my real event passion and abilities lied. My business partner and I took a leap in 2007 to start Koncept Events from my dining room table, and today we have grown it into an award winning company with 40 full-time employees!
What do you like about what you do now?
As the Operations Partner of the company, I enjoy not only overseeing our external event operations, but also being the champion for our internal company operations overall. I love process and procedure. Maintaining consistency and working towards optimal efficiencies across our many departments and within our team probably sounds like a headache to some, but it’s really fun for me! We have created what we coined the “KE Experience” meaning all departments are working towards a common goal, sharing consistent processes and delivering to each and every client the same amazing service program after program, no matter the destination, hotel or service provided. I also love the opportunity that I have to travel and execute events in remote destinations – which also brings new challenges and learning opportunities to continue my growth overall.
What makes you good at your job?
Perfectionism, attention to detail, and my ability to play the ‘devil’s advocate’ to make sure we aren’t missing anything and are doing our absolute best in event delivery. I am admittedly a workaholic and my passion for all things KE and the event world keep my heart happy!
What is your dream job?
Truly, Koncept Events is my dream job. It’s all that I have ever wanted and more for my career. But if for some reason I went off and did something different – then it would be in the non-profit world either helping homeless or hungry children get the aid, love and support they need.
