Hilton Luxury Brands – Down on the Farm

May 19th, 2010

Four members of the Koncept Events team, including partners Angie Nelson & Hillary Smith, CMP, CSEP packed up the truck and drove 8 hours to Tallahassee for the second year in a row to help Hilton Luxury Brands thank their biggest local customers with an appreciation event. Focusing on the family, our team worked closely with the Hilton planners to procure high impact yet cost effective activities that would not only tie into the “down home” feel of the event but also showcase creativity and be fun for all ages. Pony rides, old-fashioned kettle korn, s’more station, dream catcher craft, home-made ice cream, wagon rides, strolling teenage fiddlers, line-dancing, texas hold ‘em tournament and horse shoe pits were a some of the highlights. Decor focused around Southern hospitality using long communal tables accented with yellow gingham runners, sunflowers in pots and real iron water pumps from the early 1900′s were used as vases for wild flowers!

Make Up Artists in Dallas Tent in Walgreens Parking Lot

Koncept Events Partner, Angie Nelson jetted off to Dallas, TX to kick off the Cover Girl Clean Collection Road Show last week. The Clean Make up Clean Water Campaign invites women of all ages to submit a 1 minute video on how they help make the world a better place. The winner will be sent on a humanitarian trip to Africa!

Koncept Events is helping promote this contest by traveling to different cities and setting up tents in consumer purchase locations such as Rite Aids, Walgreens and CVS stores. “We designed the space, the video booth and ship all of the custom materials & product from location to location as well as hire all of the local talent (make up artists and brand ambassadors) in each city” explains Nelson. Cover Girl holds 2 of these Clean campaign events at different stores in each city for 8 consecutive weekends. “The consumer gets to have their make up done, enters the sweepsakes, gets coupons and free CG product while learning about the Clean Water iniatives…its a huge win-win for the consumer and for Cover Girl.” Go KE! Koncept Events sent Cover Girl Account Rep and Program Manager, Sarah Turk, to execute a successful campaign for Cover Girl at this year’s Roxy Chicken Jam Event held in Mammouth Mountain, California. Progressive riding, sunny skies and large crowds were all part of the fun at this year’s event. Roxy Chicken Jam is the final and only stand-alone female 6 Star event of the TTR World Tour snowboarding season for women. “Working on the slopes was presented a new challenge — fresh powder was dumped daily and it was freezing so we needed to make sure our consumer experience was inviting, warm and somewhere guests wanted to go to get out of the cold windy weather.” Also, because Mammouth Mountain is such a secluded destination, finding the perfect make up artists and brand ambassadors was a challenge. “We had to conduct email and phone interviews ahead of time to ensure that we were hiring the right people to represent our client as well as connect with our target market.” said Turk. “In the end, our due diligence paid off and the client was super happy.”

Koncept Events owner, Hillary Smith, CMP, CSEP and her husband were invited to experience the South Florida Student Shark Program’s Research Excursion first hand on Saturday, February 6th off the coast of Islamorada, FL. Already having a deep interest and respect for sharks, they were excited and anxious to see shark expert Neil Hammerschlag, Ph.D. in action along side 7 other scientists as they do their part to sustain the world’s most threatened species.

“Cool wouldn’t be the word that i would use to describe the experience” says Dr. Edward Smith, “This was life-changing for my wife and I. We no longer look at simple things like fishing, the ocean in general or being predator vs. prey the same way. This was easily one of the coolest things we have ever done and we cannot wait to get back out there and help save more sharks.”

The best part about this program, in addition to being available only in South Florida, is that this is a once in a life-time type of activity. This is perfect for corporate groups or VIPS who have seen and done it all. How many Deep Sea Fishing excursions can you take the CEO or the top Execs on before they get bored? This Shark Research excursion adds purpose to a fun, team-building activity out on the water. This experience allows for way more of an agrenaline rush and true learning with your guests actually participating in baiting the hooks, doing biopsies, taking blood, date entry and measuring live sharks. This is safe, exhilarating and best of all, all of this information will be used to help these animals out.

KE hires World Class Irish Dancers

February 1st, 2010

James Kelly Irish Folk Fiddler with World Class Irish Dancers The client asked for “the best Irish fiddler and dancers available… so that is exactly what we gave them” says Sarah Turk, Program Manager onsite for the exclusive event held at The W Hotel in Fort Lauderdale. The performance which mixed modern Riverdance-like beats with traditional Irish folk songs was choreographed by James Kelly in conjunction with Karl Drake, the teacher of the featured Irish Dancers. “You could hear the sound of the hard soled shoes in the prefunction space and the guests were all clapping along with the beat. It was hugely impactful and incredible to watch the skilled footwork of these talented dancers.” Turk recalls. All of the dancers performing that night qualified to compete in the 2010 World Championships being held in Glasgow, Scottland in April.  Good luck to you from all of us at KE!
